Now that many in Oregon are headed back to the workforce with COVID restriction ending, small businesses face hiring struggles and competitive wages. Many of them say they re already paying over the minimum wage.

EUGENE, ORE. - Employees in Western Oregon say minimum wage increases aren t helping them make ends meet.
Oregon s minimum wage increased on July 1st.
In standard areas like Lane County, it went up 75 cents now sitting at 12.75 dollars an hour.
Even with the minimum wage increase, employees are still saying that it s just not enough.
Fourth of July events happening in Western Oregon
This Independence Day weekend is the first weekend since Oregon has fully reopened.

WESTERN ORE. - Several events around Western Oregon are celebrating America s birthday this fourth of July.
In Eugene, the Pro Rodeo is taking place at 7:30 p.m. with a fireworks celebration at 10:00 p.m.
Crewell s celebration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is focusing on a decoration contest, the presentation of the Flag by the Boy Scouts and static airplane displays. There will also be a show-n-shine car show and military jet flyover.
