Don t forget trails as housing density takes shape

After I read Kevin Walthall s column on housing and commuting in Bremerton ( The way we build toward affordability, Feb. 28), I came to the conclusion that the writer left out an important piece of the solution to the issue.
Like it or not, Bremerton is going to be growing, and in addition to the workforce at PSNS, students and employees at Olympic College, there has also been the addition of new passenger-only ferries. We are rapidly becoming an affordable bedroom community for the Seattle jobs market. I agree that it only makes sense to increase the housing density in the downtown area. However, the fact remains that not everyone will want to live downtown. There will also be an increasing number of large residential areas that will still require access to downtown.
