WFHS Philanthropy and Youth to Host Annual Kamp KACE Volleyball Tournament

(West Fargo, ND)  The West Fargo High School Philanthropy and Youth Committee will be hosting their annual Kamp KACE volleyball tournament at 2:00PM Sunday, May 16th at West Fargo High School. The annual event raises funds for children who have or have had cancer, and their siblings, to attend Kamp KACE for a week. It is open to the public and those interested may attend as spectators or as participants on teams of six or seven people. The event costs $2 for spectators and $5 per registered team member. Light concessions will be available for purchase. Prizes will be awarded to the championship team, the team with the best uniforms, and the team with the best fan section.

KVRR Local News February 24, 2021 WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A former West Fargo teacher who suddenly resigned earlier this month is accused of soliciting a minor by computer. Fifty-eight-year-old Ronald Thompson has been charged with one count of luring a minor by computer or other electronic means. West Fargo Police Chief Denis Otterness says investigators received a tip from an out-of-state investigator on Jan. 28 that Thompson was attempting to solicit a minor online.  He says the “minor” who Thompson was attempting to lure was actually an out-of-state investigator posing as a minor. According to court documents, Thompson believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl.  He admitted to chatting online with multiple females, but denied having any inappropriate contacts or chats with anyone in the immediate area.

Resignation of West Fargo teacher investigated by police accepted

KVRR Local News February 8, 2021 WEST FARGO, N.D. – The West Fargo School Board unanimously accepts the resignation of a business education teacher being investigated by police. Ronald Thompson announced his intent to step down Tuesday after police served him a warrant. The board had to take action on his resignation to make it official. Thompson was a teacher at Sheyenne and West Fargo High Schools. No board members or Superintendent Beth Slette discussed any allegations against him or any information about police involvement. The district said in a statement before the meeting since this is a personnel matter and and open investigation and it will not comment on the situation.

West Fargo Teacher Resigns Amid Police Investigation

(West Fargo, ND) - A West Fargo Public Schools teacher has resigned after police served a warrant against him. Ron Thompson taught at Sheyenne and West Fargo High Schools. Police met with Thompson on Tuesday February 2 and submitted his resignation shortly thereafter. The school board in West Fargo will meet this Monday to take action on Thompson's release from his contract.

Erickson Signs with MSUM Volleyball Team

Minnesota State University Moorhead logo MOORHEAD, Minn. (MSUM Athletics) Minnesota State University Moorhead head volleyball coach Bob Jones has announced that Halle Erickson of West Fargo, N.D., has signed to join the Dragons in the fall of 2021. Erickson is a 6-foot-1 right-side hitter/setter who played her prep career at West Fargo High School. “We are super excited to have Halle join our Dragon volleyball team,” Jones said. “Halle is a very versatile player who can play at either pin position in the front row and is a talented setter from the back row. She hits with great power and range while having a great touch on her sets.”
