Bengaluru, May 6 : Battling the pandemic s second wave, Karnatak on Thursday waived import duty on goods used for Covid containment and management in the state. A nodal authority has been appointed to waive import duty on relief material used for containing the virus spread in the state, said the order.
The 2-member authority is headed by Principal Secretary, Panchayat Raj, Uma Mahadevan and Panchayat Raj Commissioner Mary Francis.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (WOIO) - Parents in Rocky River City School District are concerned about what may be taught in the diversity and inclusion programming being offered in schools.
The district says itâs expanding the programming to be offered to younger students. Parents sent a letter to the school superintendent and school board, citing their concerns about a lack of transparency. There is also a petition with more than 100 signatures.
Clarence L. âStoneyâ Stonesifer Sr., 93, of Gettysburg, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at Dove House in Westminster, Md.
Stoney was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Oella, Md., the son of the late Clarence Walter and Sarah Ridgely Stonesifer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Goslin Stonesifer.
Stoney grew up in Ellicott City, Md., and was drafted into the United States Army near the end of World War II. He was discharged and then joined the Army National Guard, where he was trained as a cook.
He re-enlisted into active duty and retired after serving 22 years.
During his time in the Army, Stoney did tours in Korea, Japan, and Germany, as well as various posts in the United States, earning several awards and commendations.
He was a husband, our father and to everyone grandpa.
He was born on a farm in Rural Western Saskatchewan.
It was May 24, the year 1931.
