Sault residents encouraged to participate in city-wide clean-up

SAULT STE. MARIE There is an upcoming city-wide clean-up for residents to clean up the Sault from the winter season and have the chance to win gift certificates from area businesses.
“Volunteers will be able to sign up for a specific area to clean up,” said Mary Jo DuVall, event coordinator. “This will allow all individuals and groups to maintain social distancing throughout our community. We will encourage masks to be worn, we will provide gloves and garbage bags to the volunteers and encourage hand washing as well.”
The event is from 9 a.m. to noon on May 15. Garbage bags and gloves will be handed out to volunteers from 8 to 9 a.m. at the back of the Sault Ste. Marie fire hall. If on that day it rains, participants can still choose to pick up or wait until the rain stops.
