Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Chief FinTech Officer Sopnendu Mohanty, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez, and Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Carlos Dominguez all expressed their support for a more technologically-capable and innovation-driven digital landscape in the Philippines and across the ASEAN region.

Carissa Cruz-Evangelista, founder-member of the Philippine Fashion Coalition, advised MSMEs to earmark some budget for IP protection and register their brands.
Speaking in a webinar, she noted that IP protection often takes a back seat to companies’ other priorities like staff salaries and product marketing and development.
“But now with e-commerce on the rise we also have the threat of more counterfeiting and we need to have an IP protection budget both for smaller and bigger brands,” Evangelista said.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) - Among the sectors adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are the micro, small, and medium enterprises, which cover 99.5% of the operating businesses in the country.
To tackle relevant issues concerning the MSMEs sector in the pandemic setting, the University of Asia and the Pacific School of Economics, and the Business Economics Association will host the Business Economics Forum with the theme of Widening Horizons Towards Development.
The BEF will feature discussions on the current situation of the MSMEs sector, digital banking with MSMEs, government initiatives to aid in its recovery, and the future outlook for Philippine MSMEs skills development.
