Hoffman Estates village, park district and Now Arena operations demonstrated resilience during the pandemic and are well prepared for the recovery ahead, Mayor Bill McLeod said in his annual State of the Village address Wednesday.
But the virtual version of the yearly presentation to the Hoffman Estates Chamber of Commerce and Industry also showed that full recovery from the COVID-19 outbreak remains a work in progress.

Evenly divided among two slates, the six candidates for three Hoffman Estates village trustee seats stated the reasons they believe voters should cast their April 6 ballots for them as individuals during a joint interview Monday with the Daily Herald.
Incumbents Karen Arnet, Michael Gaeta and Karen Mills are aligned with Mayor Bill McLeod in their reelection campaigns, while challengers James Murre, Gaurav Patel and Renee Robinson are part of retired police lieutenant and mayoral candidate Mark Mueller s Hoffman Estates Forward slate.

The Hoffman Estates electoral board has ruled against an objection to the candidacies of a slate of challengers for four village board positions, and all the candidates who filed last month will still appear on the April 6 ballot.
Resident Andrew Nawrocki had filed an objection to the nominating petitions of the Hoffman Estates Forward slate mayoral candidate Mark Mueller and trustee hopefuls James Murre, Renee Robinson and Gaurav Patel on the basis they didn t name Kane County but only Cook County as the village s geographical location.

Schaumburg is among the suburbs that regularly hold Coffee with the Council sessions for residents to meet and talk informally with community leaders.
But trustees in the village say changes may be needed in the new year to make the conversations more active, while those in other towns are deciding how and whether to continue the events as the COVID-19 pandemic rolls on.
