LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The future of a Vietnam-era helicopter at Veterans Memorial Park in Lake Charles is unknown, after damaged by Hurricanes Laura and Delta. A group of Hometown Heroes is trying to have the chopper restored. Visitors to the park on Lakeshore Drive have noticed it for the last 5 months: hurricane wind damage to the park’s helicopter on display in the Vietnam Veterans section of the park.
He said those improvements will create a new outdoor dining culture that will outlive the pandemic, assuring local businesses that the city will continue to recognize those that have taken appropriate pandemic precautions.
Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment has reported more than 13,000 positive and probable cases of COVID-19 and 329 deaths in the county since the pandemic began.
He credits the city’s support of small businesses and federal stimulus money with keeping sales tax revenues stable through last year. Plans to replace Pueblo’s outdated fire stations are in the works, according to Gradisar. He also mentioned a new sales tax ballot issue that would replace the current water user fee for the street repair utility enterprise.
CAMPBELL New cameras, hardware and software have been installed in the Campbell Police Department’s six regularly used vehicles.
Body cameras and car cameras will sync, allowing for what police Chief Pat Kelly said is “complete transparency.”
The idea for the technology upgrade came after a committee called CP and Me was formed by Mayor Nick Phillips. The group includes Phillips, Kelly, clergy members and Campbell residents.
“What I really heard out of all the meetings is” about transparency, Kelly said.
The techology, from the company Axon, allows easier access to footage after a traffic stop or any time the cameras are in use.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) -In the final days of 2020, Lake Charles City Council approved a four-part local relief package that was proposed by Mayor Nic Hunter in hopes of bringing some financial relief to residents still reeling from the pandemic and the hurricanes.
Lake Charles Covid & Hurricane Relief Package Ordinances:
A 50% reduction in occupational licenses for 2021, with a maximum benefit of $100 per business. This targets those businesses who need the assistance the most.
