A federal lawsuit claims city authorities violated the Constitutional when they arrested a man for posting former Mayor Nick Phillips' personnel records online.
CAMPBELL A committee in Campbell is giving residents an opportunity to voice their opinions on police department policy.
Within the next week, residents will receive a letter from the city introducing a survey from CPD and Me. It’s a committee established last summer with Mayor Nick Phillips, police Chief Pat Kelly, clergy and city residents.
The survey will help Phillips and Kelly continue to amend and update policies within the department, Phillips said.
Some changes haven’t been made for years, Phillips said. “It’s time to move forward.”
The survey will not be a tool to clamp down on the police department, Phillips said.

Lt. Tom Collins of the Austintown Police Department shows his Motorola body camera, which integrates the camera and the police radio in one device. There is one button to turn on the body camera and one for the radio.
News coverage of the Dec. 22, 2020, fatal shooting of a man walking toward a Columbus police officer while holding a cellphone produced a type of police body-camera video that many people probably didn’t know was possible.
Video from the body camera of officer Adam Coy showing Andre Hill being killed was possible because of a feature on the device called a “look-back.”
CAMPBELL New cameras, hardware and software have been installed in the Campbell Police Department’s six regularly used vehicles.
Body cameras and car cameras will sync, allowing for what police Chief Pat Kelly said is “complete transparency.”
The idea for the technology upgrade came after a committee called CP and Me was formed by Mayor Nick Phillips. The group includes Phillips, Kelly, clergy members and Campbell residents.
“What I really heard out of all the meetings is” about transparency, Kelly said.
The techology, from the company Axon, allows easier access to footage after a traffic stop or any time the cameras are in use.
