Lubbock moves 51st tornado memorial inside with inclement weather in forecast
Lubbockites will again come together again to remember those whose lives were lost or forever changed 51 years ago on Tuesday, May 11.
But, instead of gathering at a newly unveiled memorial dedicated to the 26 people killed in the 1970 tornado, inclement weather again has the city changing plans.
Instead, the ceremony set for 10 a.m. Tuesday morning will be in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center - coincidentally also a memorial to the victims of the tornado.
There s a significant chance for thunderstorms and rain through much of Tuesday morning, with temperatures expected to hover in the lower 50s during ceremony time in Lubbock, according to the National Weather Service.

If the government canât educate our kids, why would we trust it to raise them? Joe Biden doesnât have a good answer for that, but it hasnât stopped him from introducing another 13-digit spending plan to let the state babysit your toddler. He calls it the American Families Plan, a âfreeâ daycare system that would give radical Leftists an even earlier grip on our children. But for a party who supposedly cares so much about âthe science,â they certainly donât give a fig here. After years of government-run Pre-K, the data all says itâs a bust. Itâs certainly no comparison to an institution that costs taxpayers nothing: the intact family.

Texas City Becomes ‘Sanctuary City for the Unborn’ Following Vote
A city in Texas voted on Saturday to become a “sanctuary city for the unborn” after its residents approved an ordinance that outlawed abortion within the city.
Sixty-two percent of voters in Lubbock, a city of about 250,000 people in northwest Texas, backed the measure while 38 percent voted against it, according to unofficial results from the Lubbock County Elections Office.
Part of the ordinance reads: “It shall be unlawful for any person to procure or perform an abortion of any type and at any stage of pregnancy in the City of Lubbock, Texas.” It also renders abortion “at all stages of pregnancy” an “act of murder” with a medical exception.
