ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has released P9.3 billion to cover health services in Western Visayas region, which continues to battle the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
In a data provided to Manila Bulletin, PhilHealth-6 disclosed that the amount of P9.3 billion covered 1.19 million health insurance claims in the region comprising of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod for the period of 2020 until June 25.
The P9.3-billion pay-out covered 83.4 percent of the 1.43 million health insurance claims.
The PhilHealth-6 data was released after Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City stepped up his verbal attacks against the Department of Health (DOH), which manages the government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC).
