Iloilo City mayor wants inclusion of all W Visayas local officials in COVID-19 vaccination program

Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City (Tara Yap / MANILA BULLETIN) This is after only 28 local chief executives (LCEs) in Western Visayas region were included in the Category A4, which is fourth in line, for the massive vaccination program of the government. In a letter to the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force, Treñas requested for equal access to COVID-19 vaccines to all  local chief executives (LCEs) in the region comprising of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod. In addition, members of the local IATF must also be included in Category A4.

As of April 6, the Western Visayas regional office of the Department of Health (DOH-6) has recorded 413 active cases of COVID-19 in Iloilo province and another 348 cases in Iloilo City. Defensor has directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the 42 towns and component city and local government officials including barangay (village) officials to strictly implement the ban on social gatherings.  The ban includes birthdays, fiestas, wedding receptions, baptismal banquests, anniversary celebration, and other similar gatherings.
