God of War PlayStation 5 Update Arrives Tomorrow
Surprise! Santa Monica Studio is dropping its
God of War PlayStation 5 enhancement update tomorrow. The studio posted on its website to offer details on what upgrades will arrive when this beefier version of the 2018 classic is made available tomorrow, Feb. 2. The update will be free for everyone that owns the game, and it will bring a new default graphics mode option that gives the game 60 FPS, 4K checkerboard resolution, and 2160p.
On PlayStation 5, this new graphics mode will replace the previous mode available to PlayStation 4 Pro owners as the default, which allowed you to choose between having a higher frame rate or better resolution. This new mode will of course enable both simultaneously. But if for some reason you’re looking for something closer to that 2018 experience, you have the option to revert back to the Original Performance Experience mode, which offers 4K checkerboard resolution at 30 FPS.

God of War (the 2018 one, that is) will be getting a welcome visual boost on PS5 tomorrow, 2nd February, courtesy of Sony Santa Monica s new Enhanced Performance Experience update.
As explained in a new developer blog, tomorrow s God of War update will introduce a brand-new default graphics mode option designed to get the most out of the increased performance capabilities of the PlayStation 5 .
Up until now, PlayStation 5 owners playing God of War have been able to take advantage of the two graphics modes introduced in the PlayStation Pro version of the game - one favouring performance, which unlocks the frame rate but restricts resolution to 1080p, and the other offering a checkerboard 4K resolution locked to 30fps.

God of War released back in 2018 for the PS4 and is considered to be one of the best games on Sony s console. The game offers two modes for players on the PS4 - one that favours performance and one that favours resolution. The performance mode struggled to hit 60fps on the PS4 Pro while the resolution mode gave gamers a checkerboard 4K resolution with a locked 60fps.
God of War (2018) gets a PS5 patch
Today, developer Santa Monica Studio has announced that God of War (2018) will run at a checkerboard 4K resolution with 60FPS. The patch will release for the PS5 on February 2, the same day as the PS5 launch in India. The icing on the cake is that if you are a PlayStation Plus member, you will get God of War as a part of your subscription on the PS5, thanks to PlayStation Collection.

A new patch is now available for the game which changes its target frames per second on the console from 30fps to 60fps, something that ll feel enormously different while you re playing.
On top of that, the game will also output in a checkerboard 4K resolution, meaning that it should look sharper on your TV (provided it s a 4K display, of course).
