We’re in for a calm and quiet morning but change is on the way. The day starts off calm with a mix of sun and clouds, highs will climb into the mid 80′s. Breezy winds will be out of the south southwest 18-22 mph with gusts 25+. Saturday afternoon/evening we have issued a Weather Authority Alert Day starting at 2pm. This is due to our risk for strong to severe storms ahead of our next frontal system. The strongest storms look to be across SE GA starting Saturday afternoon around 2pm and lasting through 10pm. Those across NE FL can expect storms from 10pm until 3am Sunday morning.

Today s Forecast: Friday morning will be quiet and mostly cloudy. Showers and a few thunderstorms will become possible by this afternoon, into the evening hours as a warm front moves off the Gulf. One or two of these storms could be on the strong side. Highs today will be warm, in the upper 70s. The main action moves in overnight - before daybreak. We expect a line of intense thunderstorms to roll through south Louisiana between midnight - 5am.

Tornado Watch Issued For Much of North Louisiana Get our free mobile app Once again, Northwest Louisiana and East Texas is facing severe storms capable of producing damaging thunderstorms, tornadoes and hail. Due to the weather moving into the area this afternoon, the Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma has issued a tornado watch for a large chunk of Louisiana and Texas. According to the Storm Center, Central & Western Louisiana, Southeast Texas and costal water areas will be under the Tornado Watch until 9 pm tonight. While Shreveport sits outside of the Enhanced Risk area, we still face intense and severe weather until tomorrow morning. However, just west and just south of Shreveport, is the Enhanced Risk area. Those areas face quarter sized hail, 80 mile per hour winds and a medium risk of tornadic activity.

Region could see severe storms Friday, Tuesday Wichita Falls and North Texas could see severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening with an even greater storm risk Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Wichita Falls at a border between Slight Risk and Enhanced Risk for severe weather. The greatest threat from storms in North Texas will be very large hail and strong winds. Tornadoes could occur, but the risk was considered low as of Friday morning. Meteorologists are watching for the development of a Triple Point, a feature that plays into the initiation of storms between Wichita Falls and Childress this afternoon. If that occurs, supercell thunderstorms may develop quickly.
