Mansfield, Ohio – The Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon, Shelby Police Chief Lance Combs, and United States Marshal Pete Elliott announce the arrest of John Henry Mack Jr.
Mack was wanted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office for the kidnapping of 33-year-old Melinda Kay Davis. A warrant for his arrest was issued on February 26, Ms. Davis has not been seen or heard from since February 25.
Early this evening, law enforcement received information that Mack Jr. was in the Mansfield area. Officers from the NOVFTF, Richland County Sheriff’s Office and the Mansfield Police Department all responded to the area of East 1st St. and South Adams St. and arrested Mack without incident.
Blood, presumed to be Davis , was found in Mack s Cliffside Drive residence, according to court documents.
A $1 million cash and personal recognizance bond was set by Magistrate John McCollister of Mansfield Municipal Court.
Mack, 43, was arrested without incident Thursday evening by Mansfield police who had received a tip that the suspect was in the area of East First and South Adams streets.
A warrant for Mack s arrest had been issued Feb. 26, the day after Davis was last seen driving her black 2013 Volkswagen Jetta near Shelby High School, according to police.
Davis, 33, was believed to have been headed to Mansfield to make contact with Mack on the morning she disappeared.
