BUCKFIELD Voters selected four new members Tuesday to the Select Board in a total overhaul of the town’s elected officials.
At last year’s Town Meeting, residents voted to expand the Select Board from three to five members.
The four candidates were all unopposed on the ballot, but Matthew Whitney launched a write-in campaign against Janet Iverson, who was running to complete the term of Chairwoman Tina Brooks, who was resigning for family reasons. Whitney received 32 write-in votes against Iverson’s 82 votes.
Also elected to the Select Board were Michael Iverson, Janet’s husband, who will serve a three-year term in replacing Martha Catevenis. For the two newly created seats, Cameron Hinkley will serve a two-year term and Robert Hand’s term is for one year. Hinkley received 96 votes, while Michael Iverson and Hand each received 94 votes.

On Sunday, December 27, 2020, Alfred Hubert Marshall V, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 73. Alfred was born on July 31, 1947 in Astoria, OR to Alfred Marshall IV and Jean Courtney. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired as an E-7 Chief Petty Officer. On June 12, 1976, he married Eileen Warda and they spent 41 beautiful, loving years together before her passing on April 30, 2018. They raised two sons, Michael and Matthew.
Alfred had a passion for helping people in need and was always willing and ready to go the extra mile to meet people where they were at in life. His love for The Lord drove him to share the message of Jesus Christ with others. He actively served in his church and with The Gideons International: Ministry Behind Bars.
