Detroit Fall Beer Festival returns this year

The Detroit Fall Beer Festival is back after being cancelled last year due to COVID-19.  Our mission as the Michigan Brewers Guild is to promote and protect the Michigan beer industry, said Scott Graham, brewers guild executive director. Our biggest promotions and our longest standing promotions are our beer festivals. What better way to promote Michigan beer than to get people to taste it with lots of different breweries in one setting? Taking place in the city s Eastern Market on Oct. 23, The Detroit Fall Beer Festival tickets go on sale Aug. 5. With COVID-19, it has been over a year without having any of our beer festivals, Graham said. First and foremost, they re to showcase a number of breweries and their beer, but they re also important fundraisers for our nonprofit organization.

Gretchen Whitmer has signed legislation authorizing $37.8 million in Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grants that will support outdoor recreation projects throughout the state, including $2.13 million for the purchase of more than 4 miles of riverfront property on the Sturgeon River in eastern Dickinson County. The Sturgeon River parcel is about 1.5 miles south of U.S. 2 and just west of County Road 569 in Waucedah Township. It includes whitewater rapids, waterfalls, granite cliffs and old growth forest. It will connect to more than 3,700 acres of state forest and provide numerous recreational activities, including kayaking, fishing, bird watching, hiking, and swimming, the Michigan Departmen
