Hunterdon County s $92 million budget maintains flat property tax rate

FLEMINGTON - For the third conservative year, there will be no increase in Hunterdon County’s property tax rate.
The county tax rate will remain at 31.5 cents per $100 of assessed property value. County taxes account for only a portion of property tax bills; school and local municipal taxes comprise most of the total bill.
This year s $92.295 million budget comes in less than the nearly $100 million budget of 14 years ago.
“The budget shows the county is spending less than it did in the past, said Commissioner Matt Holt. The 2021 budget not only freezes the tax rate, it also remains substantially below the nearly $100 million budget from 2007, and is still even lower than the county budget from 2010, 11 years ago.
