Artist and photographer Russ Flatt’s work addresses notions of identity and looks towards a reimagined past in order to recognise the present. In 2020, he won the Wallace Arts Trust Paramount Award for his photographic image Kōruru (Knucklebones).
What this image represents .The work I have chosen is You Make Me Feel - a nod to the 1970s disco classic by Sylvester.
A large collection of vintage local advertisements and other memorabilia is up for auction this week.
Hurley Auctions is hosting the estate sale of David R. Sonny Monn, who was an avid collector of memorabilia from his hometown of Mont Alto as well as Quincy, Five Forks, Waynesboro, Greencastle and surrounding areas, according to a news release. The online auction is open through this Friday, Feb. 12.
The auction includes the largest collection of local advertising pieces to ever be sold at once to the public. There is also a variety of cast iron, metal and wooden toys; local stoneware and redware pottery; souvenirs from local places; early comic books and other publications; vintage hats and purses; fraternal badges; collectible porcelain and china items; early photographs and other prints; and much more.
