No. The answer to the question in the title is emphatically, definitely, absolutely no.
It may be that Freiermuth is the next Travis Kelce. It also may be that Tommy Tremble is the next George Kittle. I m rooting for Freiermuth to be a truly elite TE and a difference maker on the field, don t get me wrong, but I still have to rant about the over-valuing of TE s by fans who see this as a great pick.
Simply put, I think the TE position has a lot of popular mystique right now that makes it seem like a silver bullet that it really isn t. People talk about how a TE creates mismatches that stress the defense, and it s a really misleading statement. Maybe back in 2011 when the Patriots trotted out a 2 TE set with Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez defenses didn t know what to do with it, but this is 2021.
