BOWLING: Sparkman wins 6A/7A crown; Hewitt finishes 4th

From The Tribune staff reports PELHAM – Sparkman High School’s boys became the fifth school to capture the AHSAA State Bowling championship with a hard-fought 29-pin victory over Hoover in the 2021 Class 6A/7A state finals Friday. Coach Lisa Ivey’s Senators won the championship match with a 1,607 total. Hoover, coached by Dustin Edgar, finished strong with a 1,578 final tally. Sparkman won the traditional round 1,021 to 971 and the first Baker game 233-171. The Bucs roared back in the second Baker game 231 to 158 and won the final Baker game 205-195. It wasn’t enough to overcome the 112-pin deficit after heading into the final two games.
