Calgary weather for Tuesday, April 27

CALGARY Our energy budget will maintain a surplus – that is to say, we ll be getting more energy in from wind and insolation (the sun), than that which fluctuates out (emissions). As such, the warm-up continues, potentially into the 20s, as the wave of polar vortex energy centres over Nunavut and is kicked out late Wednesday by a high-pressure ridge building up from California. And that s pretty much it. No foolin . The next two days will involve nothing-to-write-home-about wind out of the west, with gusts today reaching the 30 km/h range (yesterday s cap was 41 km/h) and a few wispy clouds.

Rime ice, individual snowflakes, and fresh snowfall feature in this wintry photo gallery. Social Sharing Want to see yours featured on CBC TV, CBC.ca or CBC s social platforms? Email them to calgaryphotos@cbc.ca CBC News · (Tab Gangopadhyay) comments This week felt a bit more like winter in Calgary, as temperatures dipped below –17 C and ushered in an abrupt halt to the fairly mild conditions southern Alberta had been enjoying so far this season. The blast of Arctic air also made for some wonderful photo opportunities across the region. Calgarians awoke to a spectacular dusting of rime ice that crystallized overnight, outlining tree branches and needles in shimmering white.
