Parents of the first baby born this year at Belleville General Hospital are celebrating her safe arrival.
Emersyn Charlotte Bellefleur was born via Caesarean section at 8:59 a.m. Friday in Quinte Health Care’s regional maternity unit. She weighed eight pounds, 1.8 oz.

She’s the third child for Alicia Schamerhorn and Matt Bellefleur of Belleville.
“She’s doing good,” said Schamerhorn, who was “a little sore” but otherwise well.
“She was pretty alert when she first came out but she’s sleeping the last little while,” she said in a telephone interview from her room.
It took almost nine hours, but we have the first baby of 2021 for the Quinte region.
At 8:59 a.m. at Belleville General Hospital, Emersyn Bellefleur was born weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces.
Mother Alicia Shamerhorn and father Matt Bellefleur are said to be in good spirits, and safe and sound.
Emersyn was born via cesarean section.
