The Ohio Department of Transportation spends about $4 million per year on average picking up around 400,000 bags of trash from along Ohio’s roadsides. “This money could be better spent if people would simply keep trash in their vehicle and secure items they are hauling,” said ODOT spokesman Matt Bruning. “There is zero excuse for litter ending up along Ohio roadsides.”
