MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - College graduation ceremonies are officially underway.
Bethany Lutheran College hosted two in-person ceremonies today, which accommodated two guests per graduate.
In North Mankato, South Central College is preparing for a drive-up procession and virtual ceremony next week, with Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter holding their commencement a few days later. Gustavus graduates can attend their ceremony in-person, but no guests will be allowed.
Minnesota State University in Mankato is holding their third virtual commencement tomorrow at 8 a.m.

Minnesota State University, Mankato President-Elect Edward Inch announced Tuesday the appointment of Brian Martensen as interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, effective July 1.
Martensen, who has served since January 2020 as the University’s interim associate provost and senior associate vice president for academic affairs, will replace Matt Cecil, who was appointed provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Northern Kentucky University beginning July 1. Cecil has served as Minnesota State Mankato’s interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs since Jan. 13, 2020.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) The Abraham Lincoln statue that currently resides in the Centennial Student Union has been a part of Minnesota State University, Mankato’s campus since 1926 and has been placed in multiple locations over the years.
Now, campus leaders are having a conversation about education and informing campus visitors about the complicated history surrounding the 16th President of the United States.
The discussion is going to be about highlighting his political career, while also acknowledging some of the more complicated issues, like the mass execution of Native Americans in 1862.

The rare spotted-tail quoll has been discovered in Logan after more than a decade of searching to confirm the species existence in the area.
Key points:
It is unknown how many of the species remain in the wild in Queensland
Unconfirmed evidence of quolls was found last year at a property in Lyons, adjacent to Undullah
During a Logan City Council flora and fauna survey, scat was collected on a privately owned property in Undullah in the city s west, which was sent to an independent laboratory for testing.
