(Photo by Todd Kirkland/Getty Images) NFL teams making waiver claims at this point in the offseason often look to find young players with potential to add to the mix. The New York Jets are hoping they did just that with the addition of wide receiver Matt Cole, who was claimed off waivers on Wednesday. An undrafted free agent out of McKendry University, the 24-year-old Cole spent last season with the Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.

New York Jets Flight Connections 5/6/21

New York Jets Flight Connections 5/6/21 Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets Photo by Jim McIsaac/Getty Images Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. It was said by Joe Douglas that after the NFL Draft, the team would start to focus on a contract extension for free safety Marcus Maye. Some have viewed this as a mistake given Maye’s age (he is 28 going into this season). While this is a legitimate concern, I think that it’s a bit overstated. Maye has shown a high IQ on defense and a great level of play so far in his career. If Joe Douglas is able to lock down Maye on a two year extension, I don’t think this would be much of a problem at all. It would provide the secondary with great leadership and a reliable player while the team builds towards contention. While he may not be part of the long-term plans, he’s a necessary asset for the time being on this team. With that, here are your links to the Jets today.

The 49ers signed Edwards on November 24, 2020. He was waived on December 1 and signed to the team’s practice squad the following day, where he spent the remainder of the season. Edwards was later signed to a Reserve/Future contract with the team on January 4, 2021. Alexander also signed Reserve/Future contract with the 49ers on January 4, 2021.

Prospect X: The 2021 NFL draft s deepest sleeper - Sports Illustrated

Apr 28, 2021 Prospect X sits at the desk in his college apartment bedroom and nods quietly as the coach leading the Zoom call explains the defense’s terminology. “50 Weak Squat out of nickel,” the coach says. “All that means is Rover is dropping to two, Buck will drop two to the boundary.” An overhead light shines bright behind X’s head, and the glare washes out his face. X’s days have been filled with video calls with coaches and phone calls with scouts. He’s logged onto this meeting from his phone, and the PC monitor on his desk is open to a color-coded spreadsheet titled NFL STUFF, where he’s tracking all of his communications with NFL teams: who he’s talked to, how many times, video or phone, and how many picks that team has in the fourth through seventh rounds of the draft. Teams that have a lot of late picks, he shades in green if they have few players at his position, also green. A descending scale of yellow, orange and then red marks the teams that aren
