Mayor Eric Garcetti's aide gave unwanted touches, ex-staffer says

A former staffer to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti testified he was repeatedly hugged and given unwanted shoulder massages by former senior mayoral aide Rick Jacobs and witnessed similar treatment of a police officer now suing the city over the alleged advances. Henry Casas, who worked for Garcetti from 2013 to 2018, made the allegations in a deposition he gave in December to attorneys for Los Angeles Police Officer Matthew Garza, a former member of Garcetti’s security detail who has filed a lawsuit claiming he frequently endured harassment by Jacobs. Casas is the first Garcetti aide to publicly allege improper behavior by Jacobs while he worked for the mayor, and his testimony could bolster Garza’s case.

When no Cubs batter struck out in game

When no Cubs batter struck out in game By JohnW53 on Feb 4, 2021, 2:48am CST + Do you remember where you were on July 3, 2013? The Cubs were in Oakland, where they faced the Athletics in the middle game of a 3-game series. The Cubs had lost the opener the previous night, 8-7, on a 3-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. They went into the Wednesday evening rematch with a record of 36-45, mired in fourth place in the Central Division, 15.5 games behind the first-place Pirates and 11.5 in back of the third-place Reds. They led the last-place Brewers by 2.5 games. The A s (49-35) held a half-game lead over the Rangers in the AL West.

Why haven’t the Cubs signed this guy yet, Part 4: Chris Archer Share this story Photo by Justin Berl/Getty Images The Cubs acquired Chris Archer from the Indians (along with Jeff Stevens) December 31, 2008, in exchange for Mark DeRosa. In 2010, he was the Cubs’ Minor League Pitcher of the Year after posting a 2.34 ERA and 1.173 WHIP in 28 appearances (27 starts) combined between Advanced-A Daytona and Double-A Tennessee. And then the Cubs traded him away, along with Sam Fuld, Hak-Ju Lee, Robinson Chirinos and Brandon Guyer, to the Rays for Matt Garza, Zac Rosscup and Fernando Perez. This isn’t to lament that deal, because Garza was eventually sent to the Rangers for Justin Grimm, Carl Edwards Jr., Neil Ramirez and Mike Olt, and the first two of those were key parts of the Cubs’ 2016 World Series team.

If Former LA Councilman Englander Escapes Jail, That Would be the Real Crime … and, Other Random Thoughts

If Former LA Councilman Englander Escapes Jail, That Would be the Real Crime … and, Other Random Thoughts Details LA WATCHDOG-On March 27, former Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch Englander agreed to plead guilty to one count of scheming to falsify material facts.  He is scheduled to be sentenced on January 25.  According to the Los Angeles Times, federal probation officials are recommending three years of probation, a $9,500 fine, and no jail time or community service.  The U.S. Attorney’s Office is pushing for 24 months in jail, 300 hours of community service, and a $45,000 fine.   Englander deserves the max: three years in the clink and a $250,000 fine.  He has violated the public’s trust and disgraced our City.  Now, if he could give up a few of the higher ups in the criminal enterprise known as City Hall, then he would deserve a lighter sentence.
