Boscombe and Southbourne Rotary donate funds to Macmillan Hospice

A CHRISTCHURCH hospice has reeled in the funds thanks to a donation from a local rotary club. Resourceful Rotarian Robin Scott, president of Boscombe and Southbourne Rotary, made a rod for his own back when he delivered his club’s latest donation to the Macmillan Hospice in Christchurch. Coronavirus restrictions prevented Robin from handing over the money, but that didn t stop him from devising his own delivery method by using a giant cheque and a fishing rod Robin said: In normal times we present our donations to the Macmillan Unit as a group with celebratory photographs and a party atmosphere.

Dorset's High Sheriff gives prestigious award to Brendan Howard

Former General Manager of the Grove Hotel Brenden Howard was presented with a certificate in recognition of his great and valuable services to the community by George Streatfeild, the High Sheriff who represents the Queens interests in Dorset THE former manager of a Bournemouth hotel which hosted people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses has received an award from Dorset’s High Sheriff. Brenden Howard, who was general manager of the Grove Hotel on the East Cliff for over a decade, was recognised for his services to the community by George Streatfeild, the High Sheriff. “The first I knew about the award was when I received a call from the town hall,” said Brenden.
