Pair accused of killing Anthony Collins fully committed for trial

A MURDER accused pair who are charged with killing 28-year-old Anthony Collins with a ligature in a Port Glasgow flat have been fully committed for trial. Daniel Langman, 46, and Anthony McGovern, 35, appeared separately via video link from prison at Greenock Sheriff Court. The two men will now remain locked up on remand prior to the next calling of the case at the High Court the date of which is to be confirmed. Prosecutors say that Langman and McGovern acted together to assault Mr Collins by means presently unknown at Langman s home on the Port s Mackie Avenue on Sunday May 16. It is further alleged that they did place a ligature around his neck and did murder him .

Port Glasgow s Mackie Avenue: Two charged with murder of Anthony Collins

Telegraph can reveal. Daniel Langman and Anthony McGovern are said to have used a ligature in the alleged killing of Anthony Collins. Langman, 46, and McGovern, 35, appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court yesterday afternoon accused of assaulting and killing Mr Collins. The charge against the pair alleges that, while acting together, they initially attacked him by means presently unknown to prosecutors. It is further claimed that the did place a ligature around his neck and did murder him . The Crown says that the alleged killing took place within Langman s flat on the Port s Mackie Avenue on Sunday. Langman and McGovern, of Victoria Road in Dunoon, were arrested and had been held in police custody until their court appearance yesterday afternoon.

The family of Anthony Collins have paid an emotional tribute to the 28-year-old, saying he had a heart of gold . Anthony, known as Tony, was discovered dead in a flat on Mackie Avenue on Sunday afternoon. Two men have since been arrested by police and they appeared in court on Tuesday charged with murdering him. Tony s relatives have now spoken for the first time since his body was discovered.
