Local LGBTQ New Orleans authors read at the Parleaux Beer Lab

Thursday, July 22, 2021 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm I m Cristina, publicist working with LGBTQ press Foglifter, and we re letting you know about an upcoming reading event for a project which inspires me: the Home is Where You Queer Your Heart anthology, a recent collection of LGBTQ writing on home and chosen family. Local people who live near New Orleans and who have been published in this anthology, including Chanel Clarke, Tia Clark, Elizabeth Gross, Miah Jeffra, Chris Jennings, Jessica Kinnison, Megan McHugh, Karisma Price and other special guests, will read Thursday July 22nd at Parleaux Beer Lab located at 634 Lesseps Street from 6:30-8:30pm. All tour events are free and open to the public. Tubby and Coo s will sell the books.

And it’s a much bigger issue than you may think. “1 in 3 teens has experienced some type of abuse, whether that’s physical, sexual, or emotional abuse,” Meghan McHugh, Youth and Children’s Program Manager said. TESSA works to help all victims of domestic violence, sex assault, stalking, and human trafficking in El Paso and Teller Counties. They provide shelter with a 34-bed safe house, access to legal support and advocates, and have a 24/7 Safeline that victims can call.
