Filipino pageant fans rejoiced over the weekend as Miss Universe 2020 announced homegrown brand Bragais as its official shoe sponsor. The brand makes history as the first Filipino footwear brand to showcase in the prestigious pageant, joining the likes of global footwear brands Chinese Laundry, Payless Shoe Source, and Stuart Weitzman.
But before his shoes made it to international beauty pageants, the journey to the success of his business is not as easy as clicking your heels three times. Believe it or not, the making of his brand is a product of a dark time in his life. Sad and depressed, Jojo moved from Bicol to Rizal and discovered an old shoe factory. He checked it out, and relying on his gut feel, bought it and started a business.

A Filipino-Chinese who is based in California in the US will take care of the skin of more than 70 candidates at the 69th Miss Universe beauty pageant which will be held in Florida on May 16 (May 17 in Manila).
Olivia Quido-Co, CEO and Founder of O Skin Med Spa in California, said her company has been tapped as the official skin care partner of the Miss Universe pageant for the second time in a row.
“It’s truly an honor to be the skin care partner of Miss Universe beauty pageant. I am excited to meet all the candidates in this year’s competition,” said Olivia, also known as Miss O, during a Zoom meeting with select members of the entertainment press on Saturday, April 10.
