Hopewell School Board rejects superintendent s request to open schools next month, opts for March 1

HOPEWELL Hopewell schools will open for optional in-person learning beginning March 1, the Hopewell School Board decided Thursday evening a specially called meeting. The decision will delay Hopewell school s opening by nearly a month. Hopewell previously planned to open schools for in-person learning on February 8.
The decision went against the recommendation of Hopewell s superintendent, Dr. Melody Hackney. Hackney recommended that Hopewell schools should open in February as planned, but the board overruled that recommendation, instead opting to delay.
