Syracuse, NY Victoria Afet was rolled into court again Thursday, but without a straitjacket this time.
Afet, 23, appeared briefly in a wheelchair to hear the results of a mental health exam and be formally charged with a robbery that predated the crime that has made headlines: the murder of 93-year-old Connie Tuori at Skyline Apartments, in Syracuse.
Before she was rolled in, her lawyer, Susan Carey, asked a judge to prohibit pictures of Afet in court. It’s been a constant refrain during the proceedings, and prosecutor Melinda McGunnigle has joined in Carey’s requests.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 23-year-old man was arraigned Tuesday in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed a baby and injured two other young girls as they rode in a car with their mothers.
Chavez Ocasio was being held in the Onondaga County jail on charges of murder, tampering with evidence, weapons possession and a parole violation, according to inmate records.
Syracuse Police referred questions about Ocasio‘s arrest and alleged role in the shooting to the county district attorney’s office, which declined to discuss the case.

Police first honed in on Chavez Ocasio, 23, of Grant Boulevard, after finding out that a vehicle suspected of being used in the drive-by shooting on Grant Avenue on the city’s Southwest side was registered to him, the papers say.
