Kannapolis City Schools returned to class in Plan B on Tuesday Kannapolis City Schools students return for in-person learning By David Whisenant | February 16, 2021 at 10:51 AM EST - Updated February 16 at 5:39 PM KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) - Kannapolis City Schools welcomed students back to in person learning today for the first time in several weeks. The district was in Plan C, fully remote learning, due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Cabarrus and Rowan Counties. Superintendent Dr. Chip Buckwell said he was confident that today was the right day to return to in-person learning. “I’m very confident,” Buckwell said. “We had protocols in place when the school year started back in August and we’ve got the same protocols in place. We’ve practiced those for the last 6-7 months and I think we’re in a good spot to come back and our numbers in the county, both Cabarrus and Rowan, are coming down, so I feel like we’re in a good spot.”
