First came the discovery of more than 200 unmarked graves at a burial site on a former Indian boarding school property in British Columbia. Then, just weeks later, came an even more appalling revelation: another 751 graves found at another former Indian school in Saskatchewan.
The graves are reminders of a horrific period in history when Indian children were removed from their families, sometimes by force, and packed into what in Canada, typically, were church-run residential schools. Thousands went missing. It is only now that we are beginning to learn the sad fate some of them met.
Amanda Perry Named Head Volleyball Coach at Cedar Hill High School
(CEDAR HILL, TEXAS) Amanda Perry has a plan for Cedar Hill High School Volleyball excellence.
She said it starts with building a program that still believes it can win a set – even when it is trailing by five, 10 or 15 points.
“We want to be the team that opponents are scouting and watching our film,” Perry said. “We want to be that team that nobody looks forward to playing on the court. Our teams will be composed and mentally tough on the court.”
Perry met the returning Cedar Hill High School Volleyball Players – including seven sophomores – on Tuesday and will have an official Meet & Greet next week.
Cedar Hill Track Standout Gives Back To Cedar Hill Community
Gold Medals & A Heart of Gold
Diallo Good has become quite successful at being faster than other track competitors. The Cedar Hill senior has the gold medals to prove it.
But he understands that sometimes the right thing to do is stop and help his neighbors, which he is doing through a charity project he started. He is collecting activities such crossword books, coloring books, crayons, colored pencils and puzzles to deliver to the local nursing home and give it to senior citizens.
“It’s giving them something fun to do while family visitation has been limited due to COVID-19,” he said.
