Daimler Trucks begins rigorous testing of its fuel-cell truck

Daimler Trucks begins rigorous testing of its fuel-cell truck Daimler Trucks is focusing on hydrogen-powered fuel-cells for the electrification of its vehicles for flexible and demanding long-haul transport. It aims to achieve ranges of up to 1,000 kilometers and more without any stops for refueling. In late April, the truck manufacturer began to conduct rigorous tests of the first new enhanced prototype of its Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck, which was unveiled in 2020. This marks an important milestone on the path to series production. During these tests, the developers at Daimler Trucks are putting the fuel-cell vehicle through its paces. The extensive series of tests is very demanding for the vehicle and its components, and focusses, among other things, on continuous operation, different weather and road conditions, and various driving maneuvers.

GM partnership will put more electric long-haul trucks on American roads

GM partnership will put more electric long-haul trucks on American roads General Motors is joining the likes of other automakers such as Toyota in developing hydrogen fuel cell technology for long-haul trucking. GM is partnering with Navistar Inc. and hydrogen provider OneH2 to develop a complete zero-emissions long-haul truck system across the United States. The trucks will be powered by hydrogen rather than batteries, thereby eliminating the need for charging stations on long truck routes. Instead, this new system will offer hydrogen refilling stations across the nation. OneH2 will supply the hydrogen production, storage, delivery and safety.  Hydrogen fuel cells offer great promise for heavy duty trucks in applications requiring a higher density of energy, fast refueling and additional range, said Navistar CEO Persio Lisboa.

H2Accelerate - new collaboration for zero emission hydrogen trucking at mass-market scale

Share: GÖTEBORG, Sweden, Dec. 15, 2020 /PRNewswire/ Daimler Truck AG, IVECO, OMV, Shell and the Volvo Group today committed to work together to help create the conditions for the mass-market roll-out of hydrogen trucks in Europe. As a growing number of governments and businesses align on a common vision of a net-zero emissions energy system, the H2Accelerate participants believe that hydrogen is an essential fuel for the complete decarbonisation of the truck sector. Achieving a large-scale roll-out of hydrogen fuelled trucks is expected to create new industries: zero-carbon hydrogen production facilities, large-scale hydrogen distribution systems, a network of high-capacity refuelling stations for liquid and gaseous hydrogen, and the production of the hydrogen fuelled trucks. H2A participants believe that synchronized investments across the sector during the 2020s will create the conditions for the mass market roll-out of hydrogen fuelled heavy duty transportation which is r
