The two separate trials tied to the September murder of Jonathan Amerault in Rindge are expected to occur before the end of the year, though there have already been several delays in the case due to COVID-19.
Armando Barron of Jaffrey has been charged with capital murder for allegedly shooting 25-year-old Jonathan Amerault of Keene after luring Amerault to Annett State Park in Rindge after discovering Amerault was in a relationship with his wife.
Armando’s wife, Britany Barron, has been charged with multiple counts of falsifying physical evidence for attempting to cover up the murder after the fact, including decapitating Amerault following his death to make his body more difficult to identify. Her attorney, Richard Guerriero, has alleged her participation was forced by her husband who beat her and threatened her with a gun, and that she only did as he directed out of fear for her life.

A judge has denied Jaffrey man Armando Barron’s request for a probable cause hearing in his ongoing capital murder case.
Barron is accused of killing 25-year-old Jonathan Amerault after allegedly discovering he was having an affair with his wife, and then attempting to dispose of the body and evidence at a campsite in Northern New Hampshire.
Meredith Lugo, attorney for Barron, filed a request for an in-person probable cause hearing on Dec. 22. On Jan. 5, Judge David W. Ruoff denied that request.
“At the heart of the defendant’s request is the simple argument that the only evidence that the defendant committed the crime of murder is the ‘word’ of the defendant’s wife,” Ruoff wrote in his decision. “The defendant argues, in effect, that she has a motive to lie and that her ‘evidence’ is just an accusation and is not credible. This argument, as the State points out, is not a reasonable interpretation

Attorneys for Armando Barron, the Jaffrey man accused of murdering Jonathan Amerault this summer, continue to push for the court to schedule an in-person probable cause hearing, while the state requests more time to deal with mountains of evidence.
Barron has been charged with capital murder for allegedly shooting Amerault to death on Sept. 19 or Sept. 20 at Annett State Park in Rindge and attempting to dispose of his body at a campsite in northern New Hampshire.
Meredith Lugo, Barron’s attorney, filed for a second time requesting an in-person probable cause hearing, citing the state’s “continued failure” to provide the defense with discovered evidence in the case.
