COVID-19 Delta Variant 6:45 pm
Locally, a pharmacist from Mainline Pharmacy who said he has seen the Delta Variant is now pushing more people to get the shot especially for people who had already made up their minds about not getting it.
Mainline Pharmacy says the demand has slowed since everybody that wanted a vaccine originally got one
But since the highly transmissible Delta Variant has become the dominant strain of the coronavirus in the U.S.
The pharmacists say that might be the extra push needed for people to get the shot who are undecided.
“Ever since it’s been in the news the last few days, weeks, we have seen some more interest in people that have waited this long to get it, and finally think maybe it’s time to get it now.”

Local Pharmacy Reaches Major Milestone 12:34 am
A Local Pharmacy who has been leading the effort in putting vaccines into arms celebrated a major milestone on Saturday by distributing their 100,000th Vaccine! Mainline Pharmacy hit a huge milestone. They’ve officially distributed 100,000 COVID Vaccines. It happened here at Saint Francis University, one of the places where it all began.
On Saturday morning, Mother Klara Slonina of Sisters of the Sacred Heart was rejoicing. That’s because she got her final dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine. But it wasn’t just any shot, Mother Klara received Mainline Pharmacy’s 100,000th dose. Since Mid-January, the Pharmacy has held 105 Vaccine Clinics like this one, vaccinating thousands of people per week and adding up to achieve this new grand-total.

Some coronavirus vaccine appointments at Excela Health’s North Huntingdon clinic have been going unfilled, causing concern that demand is dropping while new positive cases rise.
An increase in supply allowed the health system to streamline its registry, making it easier for anyone interested in getting the vaccine to make an appointment at excelahealth.org, said Dr. Carol Fox, Excela’s chief medical officer. Officials are administering Moderna vaccines at the clinic to anyone 18 and older.
“For new, first doses, I think the demand has slowed down and I don’t know if it’s vaccine hesitancy,” Fox said, or whether it is general concerns about safety after distribution of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine was paused this week because of a blood clot issue in a minuscule percentage of patients.
