A 7-year-old English Bulldog died on Christmas Day after falling into an icy pond in Colorado.Â
South Metro Fire Rescue said the accident serves as a tragic reminder for people â especially those with pets â about just how dangerous ice can be.
According to officials, crews were called to help rescue the dog after it fell through an ice-covered pond at Cheese Ranch Park in Highlands Ranch around 12:30 PM on Friday.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. â An English Bulldog died after walking onto the ice at a pond in Cheese Ranch Park Friday.
South Metro Fire Rescue were called out to the park in Highlands Ranch to try to rescue the dog just after 12:30 p.m.
A rescue diver was able to find the 7-year-old dog under the water. Firefighters attempted to resuscitate the dog, but it died. This is a tragic reminder of just how dangerous the ice can be to people and pets, South Metro Fire Rescue said in a tweet.

DENVER A federal, excessive force lawsuit has been filed in the case of Elijah McKnight after deputies restrained and stunned him and paramedics twice injected him with a sedative before he was hospitalized for several days in August 2019.
Civil rights attorney Igor Raykin filed the lawsuit on Wednesday against South Metro Fire Rescue, Arapahoe County, two sheriff’s deputies, and three fire personnel who were on the scene, KDVR-TV reported.
“There was really no other way to get justice for Mr. McKnight,” Raykin said. “We knew that no one was going to apologize for anything, and we thought this was his only recourse.”

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. â The Jefferson County Sheriff s Office arrested a woman for attempted murder, arson and child abuse following a house fire in unincorporated Jeffco Friday.
South Metro Fire Rescue responded to 7100 block of S. Depew Street around 6:40 p.m. Friday for a basement fire.
The fire is under control. Firefighters found one cat inside and gave it oxygen. The cat is reunited with its owner. Crews also found a dog inside. Personnel on scene are working on calming the dog down and also reuniting with its owner.
