MEDFORD, Ore. A poll of Rogue Valley businessmen and women, shows they’re overwhelming against the state’s new COVID-19 mask mandate. Businesses are now either requiring people to wear masks unless an employee confirms individuals not wearing masks, are fully vaccinated. On Wednesday, the Medford-Jackson County Chamber of Commerce sent out a mask survey to the southern Oregon business community. It received a record number of results. A survey of 1,300 people in the Rogue Valley business community, shows people are growing tired of mask mandates. “It is an overwhelming response that people are over wearing masks, they’re just over it period,” said Tiffany Perez, from Tiffany’s At Home furniture store.

MEDFORD, Ore. As many restaurants and other businesses adapt to new restrictions, Governor Kate Brown says more help is on the way. The governor says she is partnering with lawmakers, to approve a $20-million emergency relief package. But in the meantime, many are left waiting. The Restaurant Revitalization Fund provides emergency assistance for eligible restaurants, bars, and other qualifying businesses impacted by COVID-19. The American Rescue Plan Act established the fund to help those struggling keep their doors open. Brad Hicks, President of the Medford-Jackson County Chamber, says businesses should jump on the $28 billion fund. “Individual restaurants for example could be eligible for up to $5 million, restaurant groups could be eligible for up to $10 million as long as they have fewer than 20 locations,” said Hicks.

Downtown Medford business sees silver lining in RCC closing buildings - KOBI-TV NBC5 / KOTI-TV NBC2

MEDFORD, Ore. – NBC5 News broke the story Monday that Rogue Community College is leasing or selling some of its buildings in Downtown Medford. The business community is reacting. Misoya Bistro is located in Vogel Plaza right in the heart of downtown Medford. The manager told NBC5 they’re sad to see fewer RCC students downtown, but there’s a silver lining. By RCC leaving some of its buildings their hope is that it’ll bring other new businesses to the downtown area. It carries risk, but the manager, Kathy Hall, is hopeful the change will be positive for downtown businesses.
