New daily cases first dropped below 500 on Jan. 29 and have hovered between 400 and 500 ever since. In a written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix put the number of hospitalized patients at 224 people the lowest number since Nov. 19 with 63 in intensive care. A total of 1,278 people in B.C. have lost their lives due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Regional police supporting campaign to end violence against women and children Moose Hide Campaign Day is Indigenous-led Feb 11, 2021 10:15 AM By: KitchenerToday Staff NEWS RELEASE The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to support the Moose Hide Campaign Day.  The campaign, which is Indigenous-led, aims to bring awareness and action to ending violence against women and children.  On February 11, 2021, members of WRPS will be wearing moose hide or vegan Naugahyde pins in support of this significant day.  “We are honoured to take part in and support this grassroots event to speak-up and stand-up against intimate partner violence and gender-based violence,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “The Moose Hide Campaign goes beyond the gesture of wearing a pin and bringing awareness to this important issue. It is also a time to learn, to build cross-cultural understanding and support reconciliation within our communities.”
