Family feels seen by accessible playground plans for Lansing
For Julia and Marlon Olivas, trips to the playground have always been difficult.
The Olivas three children all have some form of autism, which can trigger sensory overload. On one outing years ago, their eldest daughter, Charlotte, 9, fell and broke her leg. On another, their son, Gabe, 6, tried to run away from his mother. Their youngest, Violet, 2, recently fell from a rock climbing wall and got scraped up. I have to be really picky (about) where I take all three kids alone by myself, Julia said. It’s really important that there’s not a place where Gabe and Violet can run off to.
ALBANY, N.Y. â As the region begins a slow return to normalcy following 12 months of pandemic life, organizers of the 43rd Freihoferâs Run for Women (FRW) launched a new, two-month virtual fitness initiative called the âFreihoferâs Run for Women Comeback Challengeâ aimed at encouraging local families to get outside, be active and explore.

A SENIORS’ choir with a love for songs from the ‘40s and a passion for sharing them with the community, wants more seniors to join in on the fun.
The Belconnen Senior Singers group of over 55s says it proudly brings entertainment and joy to places such as nursing homes, hospitals and retirement villages.
“We love fun, music and community,” said Roz Saunders, the current leader of the club for two years running.
“We are excited to get as many people involved as possible and anyone is welcome to come join.”
