MOORESTOWN, NJ The coronavirus pandemic may be winding down, but it appears as though one thing that impacted businesses for the last year will be staying.
Moorestown Council is considering making outdoor dining a permanent part of life in the township. Some businesses put substantial resources into their outdoor service, and it s working for them, Councilman Jake Van Dyken said during Monday night s meeting. It would be wrong to curb their plans. I would be hesitant to change anything.

MOORESTOWN, NJ Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Moorestown s growing Muslim population wasn t able to celebrate one of their highest holy holidays in 2020. However, they were able to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr this past weekend, and this year s celebration was historic.
Mayor Nicole Gillespie and Councilman Quinton Law became the first council members in the township s history to attend the three-day celebration that marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting that commemorates Muhammad s First Revelation. It s all about food, going to people s homes and seeing friends and family, said Saima Bhutta, who hosted the party.

MOORESTOWN, NJ The stage is set for November s special election for an open seat on Moorestown Council.
On Thursday, Councilman Quinton Law announced that he would run for the seat he was appointed to in January.
In March, the Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee unanimously endorsed Vick Bobadilla in his bid for the seat that became vacant in December.

They both filed petitions to run in this year s primary by Monday s deadline, but no one else did, according to the township clerk s office.

All residents should have the opportunity to understand where candidates stand on issues of importance to our community such as supporting local businesses, improving our natural environment, and fostering community engagement, all of which directly impacts each and every voter.
The New Jersey Primary Elections will take place on June 8, and the general election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

The deadline to file a petition to run in this year s primaries is 4 p.m. Monday, and they can be filed electronically pursuant to an Executive Order of Gov. Phil Murphy.
