TRUSSVILLE The Trussville community has come together to donate toys and food for an annual program put on by Trussville Fire and Rescue.
Hundreds of toys and food donations have been received for Christmas for Kids. The items are being prepared for distribution to families in need on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.
Fire Chief Tim Shotts said around 30 families will be assisted this year. There is still more to be done. Donations are still being accepted and firefighters will go on the hunt for more toys on Friday, during a shopping trip. The department will use monetary donations to purchase more items.

A favorite story for many took place more than 70 years ago. The Marine Corps was fighting in Korea, and at one point the 1st Marine Regiment was surrounded – cut off from resupply, communication, and reinforcements. Chesty Puller, an iconic Marine Corps leader, said: “They’re in front of us. They’re behind us. Good. They can’t get away from us now!”
