Neither had injuries, but the hikers ran into difficulties descending a trail because of snow.
Triple Peak is a 5.6-kilometre “out and back trail” following a waterfall rising 813 metres. It is primarily used for rock climbing and is rated as difficult by AllTrails.
“The two individuals were unable to descend further on a climbing route. They did the right thing in calling for assistance and staying put,” said a spokesperson for West Coast Search and Rescue.
“They had the gear to provide shelter and safety while they waited for assistance. Luckily, the temperatures were high and we hope they enjoyed a beautiful starry night once they knew help was on its way.”
