Construction of the Ballinger Park Waterfront Project begins on Thursday, July 1 and Friday, July 2, closing specific areas of the waterfront area so the City of Mountlake Terrace can begin work on major park improvements. The waterfront will temporarily reopen July 3-5, for the holiday weekend, with the closure resuming on July 6 and continuing into September, the city said.
The waterfront project will add a new fishing pier, boat dock, boat launch, and enhanced shoreline improvements. Project funding also covers the new restrooms at the boat launch as well as an accessible pathway from the Senior/Community Center to the boat launch area. Demolition of the existing fishing pier, boat ramp, and tire rip rap is another component of the work. The total project cost is nearly $1.5 million.

The City’s FAX Bus systemwill provide free transportation along normal routes to and from Cooling Centers.

Non-Forecasted Activation If the forecast is below 105 degrees, City officials will monitor conditions and may call for activation. If it becomes apparent that the daily high will break 105 degrees, or if it has already reached that mark, PARCS will immediately notify the One Call Center, the Webmaster and the FAX Dispatch office.

Whittle the Wood Rendezvous is back with a vengeance this summer after Craig missed out on the hallmark event last year due to COVID-19.
This year’s event, which takes place next week, includes a blowout Thursday schedule, with the Quick Carve taking place that day, June 24, instead of the traditional Saturday slot.
“(We’re trying to) spread the event out for families to come and enjoy,” wrote Craig Parks and Recreation department director Ryan Dennison in an email. “Like adding the Root Beer Floats and the Movie in the Park.”
