Office of the Provincial Commissioner of Kwazulu-Natal DURBAN: Intelligence was received yesterday about a group of men who are suspected to be involved in robberies, kidnapping and hijackings in Gauteng. It was reported that the suspects were travelling in a vehicle with cloned registration plates from Gauteng to Kwazulu-Natal. An operational team from various units in the SAPS was mobilised and they were deployed at the Mooi River Toll Plaza. The said vehicle was spotted proceeding on the southbound lane towards the toll plaza. The suspect’s path of travel was blocked by police officers and they were searched. Investigations conducted at the scene revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Gauteng. Three suspects aged between 25 and 29 were placed under arrest for possession of a suspected stolen property. The suspects are expected to appear before the Mooi River Magistrates ‘Court today. Investigations concerning their involvement in other crimes are continuing.
