The Alberta government is preparing to make changes to boost police focus on hate crimes in the province, Premier Jason Kenney said Tuesday.
Speaking in the legislature after MLAs set aside the afternoon’s scheduled business to debate a motion denouncing the hatred of Islam late into the evening, the premier said Justice Minister Kaycee Madu will have an announcement in the coming days.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 1 (ANI): The Indian Army with the help of locals renovated the structure of an old Shiv temple in Gulmarg of North Kashmir and reopened it to the public on Tuesday.
The famous Shiv temple was also featured in many Bollywood films, including famous 1974 Hindi film Aap Ki Kasam . The song from the film Jai Jai Shiv Shankar was filmed around this temple.
Locals of Gulmarg were present in the reopening ceremony jointly conducted by Army Commander, Imam of Jamia Masjid in Gulmarg, Sikh priest of Gurdwara and a Christian priest.

CALGARY The vaccination clinic at the Genesis Centre in northeast Calgary is extending its hours next week. The province announced Friday that the Genesis Centre will administer vaccines from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. between May 4 and May 10, allowing people observing Ramadan the opportunity to receive their vaccine after sundown. Around 700 additional appointments will be added over the week at the Genesis Centre clinic to ensure that everyone who wants a vaccine will have access to one. “This is a great example of our government’s dedication to protecting all Albertans. Muslim Canadians advocated for this change, and I am pleased that our government is able to deliver protection to citizens in north Calgary, said Muhammad Yaseen, MLA for Calgary-North, in a release.
