‘25,000 trees to be planted in UAF’

FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Tanveer Wednesday said the varsity will plant 25,000 trees this year to make campus more greenish.
Addressing a function organized in connection with the tree planting campaign at Ayesha Hall under the auspices of the Chief Hall Warden s Office, the VC said the varsity had prepared a comprehensive plan for landscaping and beautification which will be implemented to make it one of the greenest universities across the globe.
He lauded the measures being taken under the PM Clean and Green Pakistan scheme to address the climate changes and environmental issues. He said a massive plantation drive would be carried out this year at the main and sub-campuses. The VC said climate changes were causing hazardous effects on the lives of the people. POONCH: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday arrested a militant from Jammu Airport, saying that he was the main coordinator and facilitator of militant activities of various militant groups involving facilitating infiltration of militants, smuggling of arms and ammunition, narcotics from across the Line of Control (LoC) to Indian Territory from Balakote area of Poonch district.
“The militant identified as Sher Ali from Dhargloon, Mendhar district Poonch has been arrested in connection with a case under FIR number 292/2020 P/S Mendhar and is also involved in many other cases of district Poonch,” spokesman said in a statement.

The Rawat police arrested suspects over aerial firing at a private housing society but released them later as they had a car with an official number plate, locals alleged on Sunday.
Residents of a private housing society, Muhammad Yaseen, Muhammad Saddam, Muhammad Zahid, Asad Rehman and others alleged that the suspects in a car with an official number plate started aerial firing in the neighbourhood.
Hearing the sound of gunfire, the security guards along with the residents, reached the spot while the alleged individuals identified themselves as police officers.
