KUALA LUMPUR: A journalist told the High Court that prominent lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah admitted in a press statement that he received RM9.5mil from Datuk Seri Najib Razak as legal fees for handling Barisan Nasional election petition cases.
Malay Mail senior correspondent Lim Lee Ting testified that she received the press statement titled Press Statement of Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Shafee Abdullah Pertaining to the RM9.5 Million in PDF form through WhatsApp from Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee at 4.20pm on Sept 8,2018.
“I then sent the PDF to the editors as I knew that Muhammad Farhan is Muhammad Shafee’s son and is a credible source, ” said the 32-year-old in her witness statement here on Friday (May 28).

KUALA LUMPUR: The RM2.2bil 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MBD) trial involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, which was initially scheduled to resume on Monday (May 3), has been put off due to Covid-19.
One of the lawyers in Najib s defence team, Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, confirmed that the trial had to be postponed.
He said Najib s appeal in the RM42mil SRC International Sdn Bhd case at the Court of Appeal was also affected. Both the SRC appeal and the 1MDB trial had to be vacated this week because a key member of our team has to be tested and quarantined due to close contact with a number of confirmed Covid-19 patients.

Karachi: The solar industry in Pakistan deserves a special and viable tax regime to enable it to unlock its true potential and to help the country in its drive to become self-reliant and independent in the energy sector with the least harm to the environment.
This demand was made by the representatives of the solar industry who participated in the webinar organised by the Energy Update. The webinar was organised to discuss the issues of the taxation system and standardization of the products of the solar industry in Pakistan.
Participating in the online discussion, Chairman of PM’s Task Force on Housing, Zaigham Rizvi, said that much effort had to be made to make the government and other stakeholders realize the potential of the solar industry to safeguard the environment in Pakistan.
